The Birdbrain Variations

On the wall behind the porcelain and stoneware pieces are the Birdbrain Variations, a set of four silkscreen prints based on the Allen Ginsberg poem, "Birdbrain!" written in Dubrovnik in December, 1980. The prints progress from left to right. No. 1 is a redacted version of Ginsberg's poem. No. 2 shows the blacked-out redacted sections overwritten in white by "updated" lines tailored to address the current environment in which "birdbrains" rule the waves. No. 3 adds a few editorial corrections in blue and red, and the last print in the series, "Allegro Ma Non Troppo", replaces the previous variations by a sort of musical score.
